Heo Won-Gu

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the developmental trajectories of life satisfaction of elderly people over time and to verify the health factors influencing changes. The study used the data which 2,358 elderly who is aged over 65 responded to Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging(KLoSA) from the first year(2006) to the fifth year(2014). In order to estimate the life satisfaction of the elderly, Latent Growth Curve Modeling(LGCM) was analyzed. Also, conditional model of Latent Growth Curve Modeling(LGCM) was analyzed in order to examine predictive factors. As results of the analysis, First, developmental trajectory of the elderly`s life satisfaction was verified through the unconditional model. The satisfaction of the elderly`s life was decreased linearly over time. Second, the conditional model was verified to examine whether the health factors influenced according to the developmental trajectory of the elderly`s life satisfaction. As a result, smoking, drinking, chronic illness, subjective health awareness, regular exercise, and depression were found to be variables affecting the initial value of life satisfaction. In addition, chronic diseases, subjective health perception and depression influenced on the rate of changes of the elderly`s life satisfaction. The purpose of this study is to investigate the longitudinal changes of life satisfaction of the elderly over time and it can be used as basic data to improve the life satisfaction of the elderly.
